The ConWeaver integration components automatically extract corporate knowledge
from dispersed, heterogeneous data sources and represent it in the form of a multilingual, semantic knowledge network. This knowledge network, also often described as a semantic network or ontology, reflects the expert know-
ledge as well as the factual knowledge on business objects like customers, products, projects, processes or experts in the form of semantic relationships. At the same time, it is able to associate or classify documents that are thematically and contextually similar. Every knowledge network is the result of a specific analysis workflow that uses various analysis methods in a data-specific, flexible and individual manner. The knowledge network is updated by an update engine. It automatically adjusts the knowledge network to data changes at regular intervals.
The ConWeaver search components enable a uniform intelligent search via distributed data sources. They utilise the semantic, thematic and contextual descriptions of the knowledge network to carry out a multilingual search independent of phrasing and deliver a thematically structured search result. The ConWeaver search provides information on facts as well as on document contents. Recommendations on thematically similar documents or factual entries enable an additional thematic exploration and navigation.
What do semantic knowledge networks accomplish?
Semantic search solutions that are based on knowledge networks function much more efficiently than traditional search solutions. They do not look for words, but for meanings and thereby recognise that “Kunde” (German for customer) in the distribution data base is synonymous with "customer" in the email archive and "client" in project documentation. The content–related integration of various IT systems throughout the organisation becomes only possible through semantics.
Semantic search solutions aggregate search results contentwise – whether or not it is highly structured factual information or texts from data bases and directories. Moreover, thematically related information – and thereby the context of the query – is included.
